Two different jobs
People mean two different things by "cleaning the cellar", and the price differs several times over.
Cleaning is work in a space that already functions: sweep and wash the floor, wipe the shelving, remove cobwebs and dust, ventilate. Charged by the hour or at a fixed price by area.
Clearance is removing the contents: sorting, carrying out, loading and taking away. The price depends on volume and on how many floors and metres there are to the van — not on the floor area of the cellar.
How a clearance works
We start by sorting into three piles — keep, remove, donate. You decide; we ask and we throw nothing away without confirmation. For anything with obvious value we ask twice.
Then the carrying. In a block of flats without a lift that is the main part of the work and the main part of the price — not the sorting.
Finally the space is swept and washed so you can put something in it straight away.
Where the waste goes
Bulky waste to the recycling centre; hazardous waste (paint, oil, car batteries, fluorescent tubes) to where it belongs, not into the bin outside the building. Electrical waste to take-back collection.
Usable furniture and belongings we can take to be donated rather than to landfill — Bratislava has several collection points and it is often quicker and cheaper than the recycling centre.
Removal is charged by volume. How much exactly we say once we have seen the space — volume is estimated badly from a photograph and we do not want to revise the figure on the day.
Garages
A garage adds what a cellar does not have: oil stains on concrete, tyre dust, winter grit and hazardous waste. Oil stains are treated with absorbent and degreaser — the concrete will never be white again, but the difference is substantial.
Tyres, car batteries and old oil do not travel with general waste: they go somewhere else and we tell you where.
Damp and mould in cellars
Most cellars in Bratislava blocks are damp, and cleaning does not change that. We wash and remove surface mould; mould grown into the masonry we do not treat chemically, because it returns.
One piece of advice that always applies: do not keep things in cardboard directly on the floor. Cardboard wicks moisture and after one winter it becomes a mould source for everything around it. Plastic boxes on a shelf last for years.
What we do not do
We do not dismantle shelving or structures, we do not do pest control and we do not address the cause of damp — that is a builder's job. We do not remove anything from communal areas without the owner's consent, even with the building's agreement: a pram in the corridor belongs to somebody.

Substantially, with absorbent and degreaser — but not completely, because concrete is porous. We say in advance what result is realistic.
Will you remove cellar mould?
Surface mould yes. Mould grown into masonry we do not treat chemically — the cause of the damp has to be addressed.
